Beautiful Losers

Recently while browsing my Netflix watch instantly I chose a random documentary only to find it one of the most entertaining and fascinating i've seen yet. The film follows the journey of ten or so artists in the late 90's who originated an entire series of art from sub-cultures of cities across the nation. The work they created was like nothing that had been done before, a completely new genre, and all years before it became a popular art style. Some of the artists in the film include Spike Jonze, Margaret Kilgallen, Ed Templeton and my personal favorite, Barry McGee. Every single artist had such great spirit & made me so grateful to still have the power to create in me. Like art? Love art? Live art? See this documentary! Your welcome.

R.I.P. Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy. Only 32. It was quite the year for celebrity deaths but this one truly shock me. From Clueless to 8mile to Girl Interrupted she was truly an amazing actress. My personal favorite, (which I suggest for all you fashionistas) is the movie 'Love and Other Disasters'. Murphy plays Jacks, a beautiful Holly Golightly type character working in Vogue London while living with her gay roomate & inevitably trying to make love stay.

let the wild rumpus start!

This Friday, October 16th the much anticipated movie, "Where the Wild Things Are" is released in theaters across the U.S. The beloved childhood tale has had a growing acknowledgment, this past year in particular, amongst kids of all ages. The wild, rough and neutral color palette of the Spike Jones' film can be seen throughout many pieces in this Fall's Fashion. Above are some designer pieces along with other mixed media that display the idea of the film's influence on fashion through color & texture. To find your own official Wild Things merchandise check out Urban Outfitters.com for a complete section of official apparel, interior pieces, wall decor and more.

The Best Useless Invention

Ever wanted bigger breasts but too low on cash? Well search no more for the "boob scarf" is here! Yes it's true, the Japanese have done it again & today I stumbled across this hilarious new scarf that makes quite a fashion statement. Not only will your breasts get lots of looks but your inner-rebel can even tattoo the girls! I truly think it is impossible to not smile at this one. The Asian culture just continues to surprise me...

No Go for Loho

Recently Lindsay Lohan was named "artistic advisor" for top fashion line, Emanuel Ungaro; so naturally while browsing through the Spring 2010 collection I couldn't help but wonder if my like for some pieces were bias. Ever since "Parent Trap" I have been a die-hard Lohan Fan & would hate to turn my back on her now. The collection had many vibrant-colored 80's inspired pieces that went out of style for a reason. Womens Wear Daily called the line "an embarrassment" & "cheesy & outdated". Not all pieces were a complete disaster, but there was much hunting involved to find the ones with celebrity wardrobe-potential. So if risk-taking color combos, drop-crotch pants & glitzy heart-shaped pasties are your style... oh wait, it's safe to say they're not.
